What a Man Wants Most From His Wife
By S Brooks
It is said that men are programmed to be hunters. They need to get what they want no matter what it takes. Successful hunters, who bring home the prey, are considered as winners. Though today's men are more likely to just order sandwiches, rather than hunt for wild boar for dinner, there remains inside them the primitive urge to win.
That is what they need from their spouses; they want and need to win. It is not necessary for them to win in every argument and be always right but they want the feeling of winning.
If a guy feels that his wife trusts him, that will make him feel like a winner. If a man is constantly put down by his wife or partner, then he would feel like he is a complete loser. He may pretend that his wife's opinion doesn't really matter to him but deep inside it does matter a lot.
Aside from that constant desire to win, men also need space. Some women actually drive their men away by demanding that their men spend so many hours with them. Men need to bond with their friends and talk about their conquests together. They need time to enjoy sports, and other hobbies and hang out with their male friends. A smart woman would know when to let her man have his own time, because that will often endear her more to him. Some wives who are too demanding and possessive, and insensitive to their mens' needs of private time, will only end up frustrated and unhappy.
Be your man's lover and friend at the same time. Make him feel that he can open up and talk to you about everything and anything without being judged and criticized. If your marriage is founded on friendship, he definitely would not do something to lose that friendship. If you can maintain that friendship even after the wedding, then your marriage has a better chance of survival.
Aside from these two basic needs - the need to win and the need to have time for themselves, men also need to see their wives taking care of themselves. Not that women would always have to look like super models to make their men happy, but taking the time and effort to look good for their husbands is also essential. This will make husbands appreciate the time that wives spend on looking good just for them.
A relationship is not a contest where you only give the other person what he needs if he starts giving you what you want. There is no room for this kind of attitude in a healthy marriage. By being considerate of your partner's needs your life together will be more meaningful and your marriage will grow stronger through the years.
